I find the human story behind the water.

I am Isabelle Molenaar, born in Amsterdam and raised in a small village just outside the city, on what used to be the Zuiderzee.

During my studies in Politics, Psychology, Law & Economics (PPLE) I worked as a guide on the canals - still one of the best jobs I have ever had. That is where my great passion for Amsterdam's water began.

When I was not working, I was out on the water myself with my boat, De Parel. Over the years I got to know a lot of remarkable people: skippers, houseboat residents, tourists from all over the world, water managers, and many others who all have their own relationship with Amsterdam's water.

And that is what fascinated me: there are so many people with a unique view of the city and its water, stories that would be a shame not to tell.

Through videos, articles and (audio) tours we want to show people the role water plays in the daily life of the city, and how it shapes its future.

There is still so much to discover beneath Amsterdam's water surface. Time, then, to dive a little deeper together.
